Ice cream should be consumed in accordance
with the same criteria we apply to other foods.
Ice cream, in particular, should be consumed
at regular meal times and avoided between meals.
We recommend that when eating ice cream, you
enjoy it a little at a time. Pause between bites
and do not take it in great gulps, allow yourself
to relish its flavour and enjoy it as you eat.
Ice cream is traditionally considered a dessert
item, alternating with fruits or iced sorbets,
which contain lots of natural fruits. If vegetables
have figured large in your diet during the day,
a dessert of ice cream is even recommendable.
And if one should like an ice cream with afternoon
tea, the ice cream will provide 50 percent of
the calories assigned to this portion of your
diet; the remaining energy and nutrients can
be gotten from fruit.
