Ice cream is an ideal food for people of all
ages – it is positively good for anyone
who eats it. A high milk content stands out
among its many qualities, providing it with
significant nutritional value and making it
an appropriate food item for anyone, like children
and teenagers, requiring a protein-rich diet.
Rich in calcium, milk- and cream-based ice
creams are a good option for people who need
this mineral, especially those who do not normally
drink milk. One hundred grams of ice cream made
from milk or cream provides between 10-20 percent
of the daily recommended supply of calcium.
Pregnant women or nursing mothers (physiological
situations which require a higher intake of
calcium) would do equally well to include a
moderate amount of ice cream in their diet.
Other micro-nutrients (vitamins and minerals)
present in ice cream must not be overlooked
either. In the case of vitamin B2, 100 g of
ice cream can cover between 10-15 percent of
daily requirements. Finally, from a nutritional
standpoint, one of the best things about ice
cream is that it is low in sodium.
